Consider the circuit below.
Several points on the circuit are identified by the letters a through g. Some of these are essential nodes, and some are nonessential nodes. Although any node can serve as a reference node, some are more convenient than others. The intelligent engineer will select the node that allows the fewest, simplest node voltage equations to be written.
