Some time means "a length of time." Sometimemeans "at a time that either is not specified or is not even known." Sometimes means "occasionally (at unspecified times)."

The engineers had to wait some time beforethe system finally completed its diagnostic routines.

The gas chromatograph works well sometimes,but other times it doesn't work at all.
