Task-Oriented Documents

Documents that enable users to carry out specific actions forwell-defined results are said to be task-oriented. Atask-oriented document seeks to describe a performance in enoughdetail to enable the reader to carry out the task. Task-orienteddocuments such as specifications, documentation, andinstructions, transfer expertise. They enable their users toperform specific tasks as the absent expert would.

In all these documents, the author is providing expert guidancethat ensures a given standard of performance.
