Accessing the Mayfield Toolbar

For Windows, the Mayfield software functionality has been created bywriting WordBasic or PerfectScript macros. Thoughyou will find the macros accessible and able to run from the menu, you takean unnecessary risk in so accessing them: you might inadvertently deleteor edit a macro, leaving the feature unusable. For this reason, you shouldaccess the features only through the toolbar buttons or keyboardshortcuts.

A unique toolbar called the Mayfield Toolbar makes it unnecessaryto select a macro from a list. This toolbar acts like other toolbars inthat you can view or hide it without changing its function. It can be movedor resized to your liking. On the toolbar, you will find four functions:Open Handbook, CreateHandbook Link, View Handbook Link, andCreate Comment. These four buttons willrun the macros needed to open the Handbook, create and view referencelinks within the Handbook, and insert comments into a completeddocument.

For each function that is operated by running a macro, a correspondingshortcut key combination can run the macro automatically. You will findthe appropriate key combinations in the precedingsection and also in Chapter 4, where specific instructionson each feature are given.
