Using both a horizontal and a vertical spring, this applet simulates Hooke's
law and simple harmonic motion. As discussed in Section 14.1, the amount
of stretching of the spring is given by Equation 14.1. You can actually
use the simulation to gather data similar to the one given in Table 14.1.
When put in simple harmonic motion, the behavior of the spring mass system
is discussed in Section 14.2. You can use the simulation to investigate
the dependence of the period of oscillation on the amplitude and on mass.
